Connect Strava
OuiRace integrates natively with Strava, the most popular sports activity tracking platform. By connecting your Strava account, your activities will be automatically synced with OuiRace, feeding into your leaderboards, challenges, and statistics.
Why Connect Strava?
- Automatic sync: every activity recorded on Strava is automatically sent to OuiRace via real-time webhooks.
- No double entry: no need to manually log your workouts.
- Complete data: distance, duration, elevation gain, average speed, and much more are automatically retrieved.
- Challenge participation: your Strava activities count directly toward fundraising challenges and race leaderboards.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you:
- Have an active Strava account (free or premium).
- Are logged in to your OuiRace account.
You can create a free account at strava.com. A premium subscription is not required for syncing with OuiRace.
Connection Process
The connection uses the OAuth protocol, a secure standard that allows you to authorize OuiRace to access your Strava data without ever sharing your password.
Step by Step
-
Go to your settings on OuiRace, then navigate to the Connections or Connected Apps section.
-
Click "Connect Strava". An orange "Connect with Strava" button is displayed.

Click "Authorize" on the Strava page. Review the requested permissions before accepting.
-
Automatic redirect back to OuiRace. You are redirected to the
/strava-successpage confirming that the connection was successfully established.

A confirmation message is displayed and your Strava profile appears in the connected apps section. Syncing of your activities begins immediately.
Automatic Sync
Once the connection is established, OuiRace automatically receives your new activities through Strava's webhook system:
- Real-time: when you finish an activity on Strava, OuiRace is notified within minutes.
- Eligible activities: all public activities and those with visibility set to "Followers" are synced.
- Updates: if you edit an activity on Strava (title, sport type, etc.), the change is also reflected on OuiRace.
Supported Sports
OuiRace supports a wide range of sports available on Strava:
| Sport | Supported |
|---|---|
| Running (Run) | Yes |
| Cycling (Ride) | Yes |
| Swimming (Swim) | Yes |
| Walking (Walk) | Yes |
| Hiking (Hike) | Yes |
| Trail Running | Yes |
| Skiing (alpine, cross-country, touring) | Yes |
| Other sports | Depends on race configuration |
The sports that count toward a specific challenge or race depend on the configuration set by the organizer. Check the details of each event to see which sports are eligible.
Disconnect Strava
If you want to stop syncing:
- Go to your settings on OuiRace.
- In the Connected Apps section, find Strava.
- Click Disconnect.
- Confirm the disconnection.
Disconnecting does not delete previously synced activities, but new Strava activities will no longer be sent to OuiRace. You can reconnect your account at any time.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| The redirect to Strava doesn't work | Make sure popups are not blocked and that you are not using an ad blocker. |
| Activities are not syncing | Check that the connection is still active in your settings. Try disconnecting and reconnecting Strava. |
| Missing activity | Make sure the activity is recorded on Strava and that its visibility is not set to "Only You". |
