Record a GPS Activity Mobile app
The OuiRace mobile app includes a full GPS recorder that lets you track your sports activities in real time, directly from your phone — without needing a connected watch.
Start a recording
- Open the app and go to the Recorder tab (play icon in the navigation bar).
- Choose your sport by tapping the activity type selector. Available sports include:
- Running, trail, walking, hiking
- Cycling, mountain biking, gravel, e-bike
- Swimming (indoor/outdoor), paddleboarding, kayaking
- Racing wheelchair, handcycle
- Tap the Start button to begin GPS recording.
On first use, the app will ask for permission to access your GPS location. Accept to ensure the recording works correctly.
During recording
Once recording has started, the screen displays in real time:
- Map with your route drawn live
- Distance covered
- Current pace
- Activity duration
- Running timer
Taking photos during the run
During recording, you can capture moments by tapping the photo button. Photos are geolocated and will be attached to your activity.
Photos taken during the activity will appear in your news feed and can be seen by your friends based on your visibility settings.
Race mode (recording linked to a race)
If you are registered for a race, the recorder can operate in race mode:
- The target distance of the race is displayed
- A local notification alerts you when you reach the race distance
- The activity is automatically linked to your registration
Finish and save
- Tap the Stop button to end the recording.
- A results screen appears with your complete statistics.
- Fill in your activity details:
- Activity name (e.g., "Morning jog in the park")
- Description (optional)
- Effort level (scale of 1 to 10)
- Final photo (optional) — add a last photo from your camera or gallery
- Media visibility — choose who can see your photos: public, friends only, or private
- Tap Save to save the activity.
Offline mode
If you don't have an internet connection during your activity:
- GPS recording works normally without a connection
- The activity is saved locally on your phone
- As soon as you regain a connection, the activity is automatically sent to the OuiRace server
- Your challenges and registrations are updated at that point
GPS recording consumes battery. If your battery level is low, the app will display a warning. Remember to charge your phone before a long activity.
